These documents are published in Arabic and English. If the two versions differ, the Arabic text prevails.
This policy explains how Meras handles personal data about everyone who uses our website: people who only browse, people who send an enquiry, and people who register, buy or sell a property.
1. Who is responsible for your data
1.1Meras Real Estate Platform Group for Real Estate Investment and Constructions ("Meras"), commercial register No. 145347, 30 Mohamed Saeed El Halwany, El Orouba, Cairo, Egypt, is the controller of your personal data under the Personal Data Protection Law No. 151 of 2020.
1.2Questions about your data, and requests to see, correct or delete it, can be sent to [email protected].
2. What we collect
2.1When you browse: the pages and properties you view, the searches and filters you use, your device and browser type, and your IP address.
2.2When you send an enquiry or book an appointment: your name, telephone number, email address, the property you asked about, your budget, the areas and unit types you prefer, and anything you write to us.
2.3When you register or reserve a property: in addition, your account details, your language preference, any identity, payment or contract document you upload, and the record of your deals, appointments, messages and complaints.
2.4When you list a property for resale: the property details and photos, copies of your national ID, the sale contract and payment documents, and any other information needed to verify your identity.
2.5When you call us, message us on WhatsApp or meet us on Zoom: the content of those conversations and the notes our team keeps about them.
2.6We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18 years of age.
3. Why we use it
3.1To answer your enquiry and show you properties that match what you asked for; to let a Meras sales representative contact you; to run your reservation or listing; to meet our legal, tax and anti-money-laundering obligations; and to keep the website secure.
3.2We use your data to provide the service you asked for, to meet our legal obligations where the law requires us to keep records, and on your consent where we ask for it.
3.3We send you marketing messages only if you have agreed to receive them, and you can stop them at any time.
4. Who we share it with
4.1The developer of any property you enquire about or reserve, so that it can contact you and process the sale. This is necessary to give you what you asked for.
4.2On a resale, the other party to the sale, but only what is needed to complete it.
4.3Our service providers, who act only on our written instructions: Amazon Web Services for hosting and file storage, Mailgun for sending email, and Sentry for monitoring website errors.
4.4Advertising platforms such as Meta and Google, only if you have separately agreed to it. In that case we may share your email address or telephone number in a protected form so that we can show you our properties. You can refuse and still use the website normally.
4.5Public authorities and our professional advisers where the law requires it, and a buyer of our business if Meras is ever sold.
4.6We do not sell your personal data.
4.7Google, WhatsApp and Zoom, when you view a map on our website or choose to talk to us on WhatsApp or Zoom. They handle that data under their own privacy policies.
5. Cookies and browser storage
5.1We store a small amount of information in your browser that the website needs to work: whether you are signed in, and the language you chose. This cannot be switched off without stopping the website from working.
5.2We do not currently use analytics or advertising cookies. If we start to, we will ask for your consent first, make refusing as easy as accepting, and update this policy.
6. Where your data is kept
6.1Some of our service providers store data outside Egypt. When that happens we comply with the Personal Data Protection Law No. 151 of 2020 and obtain any licence or permit it requires. You can ask us for the current list of locations.
7. How long we keep it
7.1Enquiries that do not lead to a deal: 2 years after our last contact with you.
7.2Registered accounts: 3 years after your last activity.
7.3Deals and their documents: 5 years after the deal closes, to meet tax and anti-money-laundering rules.
7.4We keep data longer only where a law or an unresolved claim requires it. After that it is deleted or anonymised.
8. Your rights
8.1You can ask to see the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, object to how we use it, or withdraw a consent you gave. Withdrawing consent does not affect what we did before.
8.2We reply within the period the law allows. If you are not satisfied with our reply, you can complain to the Personal Data Protection Centre.
8.3To stop marketing messages, use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email or write to [email protected].
9. Security
9.1We protect your data with encryption, access limited to named staff accounts, and a record of every change made to it and by whom.
9.2No system is completely secure. If a breach affects your data, we will notify you and the authorities as the law requires.
10. Changes and language
10.1If we change this policy, we will publish the new version on this page with its date.
